There is a short guide in the wiki, see Add applications to the menu

Tho I usually create a .desktop file and store it .local/share/applications in my home directory.

95 percent of applications will do this on their own. These are two that fall into that 5 percent due to poor packaging on Ubuntu's part.

Will try to remember to repackage these myself to fix their .desktop issue.

I would like to add something i notice and its not on the wiki.
At the "edit icon" option i choose the last tab which is "Options" and i check the box next to "Show in Menus".
That also worked!

Excellent! The more people contribute to the Wiki, the better it gets. Thanks a lot for adding these things whenever you discover them, electrovalent. Don't feel as if you shouldn't just because you're new here. I wish we didn't have to have separate logins for the Wikis, but it's really a small price to pay for the amazing resource that thing is growing to become!
