I got VLC 1.1.5 from here...

At your OWN risks, install VLC from PPA:
Command line way

% sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lucid-bleed/ppa
% sudo apt-get update
% sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

webupd8.org for newer releases if he hasn't them in the repo

ubuntu-tweak in the repo would be great

nvidia 270 by default?

by default install xorg noveau and nv files... i noticed without installing these first then upgrading to nvidia 270, xorg would get deleted and my system crashed... took a while to figure it out... (saw another post here with same problem) all xorg by default i guess is what i'm saying.. I get all those other xorg file i'll never use, how about two more that i do use by default?

lotus symphony is version 3 now too and is one file for everything...

Didn't know nVidia 270 drivers had been released, I will get that added to the Bodhi repo some point after the RC disc is done. I do not want to include Ubuntu Tweak as many of the features it contains will not work with the E desktop.

LJK - regarding the VLC issue, you will need to purge all VLC related files and then it will download from the Bodhi repo again. Some of the updates I added the other day broke existing packages. This shouldn't happen again as we are now nearing our RC and then stable release.

i got 270 drivers through ubuntu-tweak listed repo for nvidia....

getdeb is not trustworthy in my opinion... it will upgrade a file and add a .1 to the end of the file name just so its files are preferred... frostwire is one i noticed this with.... not sure what the bennies are for having getdebs version over the latest frostwire release from their website..
it will break some packages too i've seen.

the only thing i will use is xvst from getdeb and only because the autoupdater is wonky on the self install from their package and getdeb has it disabled by default so you don't have to fight it while it tries to autoupdate and crash before you can click your mouse to make it stop...

yeah ubuntu tweak in e only works with gksudo and is limited but i do use even those limited functions, like changing default directories, package cleaner, kerner cleaner, config cleaner... they are handy to have... and access to the repos it offers with ease.. if i knew anything about code, i'd write ya something to ease those five things into bodhi with my own program.. even for non-noobs it saves a lot of time setting up a new system.. it has the webupd8/launchpad repos available which are easy to browse in synaptic for something new when it's added...

That is actually installed on the Bodhi system by default. It is what I use to create the disc.

looking for a lightweight mediacenter application to compliment Bodhi, I came across enna http://enna.geexbox.org/ . From the URL you can see it is from the geexbox team. It also uses the EFL libraries which I think will make it a good fit. Enna is not feature complete as of yet, but does work rather well for its first stable release. There is an enna package that shows up as a package, but it seems to have broken with my update to 1.5.

Jess you are doing an upgrade to 0.1.5? If so what is failing to install with enna? There might be some package conflicts as a number of things where updated between the 0.1.4 release 0.1.5 (meaning you may have to purge some packages).

On a fresh 0.1.5 install Enna is installing just fine. I actually compiled a recent version from SVN just for the Bodhi repo - just confirmed it does indeed install with a clean package base.

I've never used ubuntu tweak (cause I don't really use ubuntu), but if there are application ideas for EFL, ask Jeff to add them to the development page (he'll know what I am talking about). We have a list of TODO items for making EFL apps. Currently working on an EFL installer.

Jeff, thanks for the quick response. Yes I was running Bodhi 0.1.4 and just did a update to 0.1.5 via aptitude. Trying to start enna now via the command line ends with the message:

enna: symbol lookup error: enna: undefined symbol: elm_label_slide_set

I was assuming that since a lot of the enlightenment libraries had been updated that enna was looking for something that had been changed or removed from the library. I was thinking of doing a reinstall but it's a bit of a pain since I've got to make some changes to handle the gma500 video on the fitpc2 that I'm installing this on. Don't worry, I won't ask you to deal with the gma500 mess. :) Keep up the good work. I appreciate the lightweight distro with enlightenment.

I'm not sure if there is already something suitable which I've missed when I searched, but it would be good to have a system monitor which can either live in the system tray as an icon for each thing it monitors or as a gadget. I'm thinking of something like the "system monitor" GNOME panel applet. I like to see processor and memory usage at a glance when something is taking longer than expected. I've tried a few things from the Ubuntu repos, and the closest thing I found was asmon, but that is an X app which renders at a fixed size which is too small to see properly. I've attached a picture of how I have the gnome panel system monitor set up as an example of the sort of thing I'm thinking of. Is there something I've missed which will do this type of thing? I'm new to Enlightenment, so maybe there is something built in. I thought of using conky, but that (unusually given how much it does do) doesn't quite do what I want.

Take a look into the CPU and the mem modules. They display a percentage output of values - I'll ask our E developer to look into making them do graphs at some point when he catches up with everything :)

Jess, I wish you luck with your GMA-500 video!

Please tell us what you had to do to get it working. It would be a good addition to the Wiki hardware section.

Last I checked you had to dance around in a circle and sacrifice a small animal to get the GMA500 working... Hope things have improved. It is half the reason I sold my Asus T91MT and got the T101MT

Seems like they finally managed to port the first working MeeGo driver to Maverick (which should work with Bodhi as well, since it uses the same Xorg and the same kernel as Maverick). Try it here: https://answers.laun.../emgd/+faq/1450
I work with an older version of that driver and Xvideo works, apparently the new version has vaapi and possibly screen rotation as well. I was going to reinstall my system with that driver as soon as Bodhi stable is out. Will then update the Wiki as well, Jeff ;-)

A couple of my favorite programs I think others would enjoy:

Guayadeque, a music player : http://guayadeque.or...dex.php?p=/docs

Celtx, a screenwriting program as well as pre-production suite : http://celtx.com/

I think we have to prioritize lightweight and EFL applications. I'd like to propose Emphasis, Elmdentica, Enki, Enjoy, and Envy, just to name some apps out there.
