Shared Clipboard in VirtualBox

Shared Clipboard VirtualBox

Best Answer Jeff, 02 January 2017 - 12:30 AM

Run the command:

sudo apt-get purge virtualbox-guest-utils

Then reboot the VM and try again. We have some generic guest additions installed by default so the display sizes properly when you use the image.

Hi

I re-installed Bodhi in VirtualBox and can't get the bidirectional clipboard sharing to work. The shared folder is auto-mounted and is accessible after I added my account name to the vboxsf group. I have rebooted Bodhi and VB several times.

When I execute "sudo sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run" I get :-
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox 5.1.10 Guest Additions for Linux...........
VirtualBox Guest Additions installer
You appear to have a version of the VirtualBox Guest Additions
on your system which was installed from a different source or using a
different type of installer. If you installed it from a package from your
Linux distribution or if it is a default part of the system then we strongly
recommend that you cancel this installation and remove it properly before
installing this version. If this is simply an older or a damaged
installation you may safely proceed.

Do you wish to continue anyway? [yes or no]

What do you recommend me to do? After my first installation of Bodhi it worked fine but I might have ruined my package state ...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bart.

A big thank you to everyone who contributes to Bodhi Linux

Solved. Thanks again for your help.  :)

PS: This conflict might also have started the package state quagmire.
