Found a whole website devoted to music production with FOSS. This article on configuring Linux for music recording might be of use.

A big thank you to everyone who contributes to Bodhi Linux

Update regarding my Xruns...I was suspecting a bottleneck in my system's performance due to running a powerful system but using integrated graphics...now that I have installed a video card, like magic, my XRuns are gone!

I was able to play guitar through Guitarix for roughly an hour last night with nary an XRun!

There is some chance that my XRuns were related to the segfault issue, but I'm not thinking so as I wouldn't be actively moving/resizing windows when the XRuns would occur.

Now onto digging into setting up a full workstation - thank you everyone for the feedback and advice!

Does anyone know how to setup proper connection routing in qJackctl and Ardour?  I am having a heck of a time finding decent information...basically, it seems like a basic map inputs to outputs, but it's almost like the program has I/O backward, with Outs being Ins?  Very odd....

I am able to get signal to meter in Ardour, but when I hit record, I'm not getting anything...and the cursor isn't moving, etc.  Basically, the record icon is blinking red like it should while recording and that is it.  I haven't asked around in the Ardour forums yet...thought I would start here.  Anything would be great!

Thank you!
