man - dumb question on finding out isp address

i am trying to help out a woodstove company who has had some issues - they guy is a great friend of mine and they are having issues.

 

he asked me to send him my isp address.  I am going blank as to how to find it.

the ip address i got seems to be different then doing a search for what is my ip address and what that site gives.  weems weird it is not the same.

Commands give you an internal ip address, not related to your provider, so does the nm-applet.

 

Go to this site. It will show the address you have for world wide access through the internet.

 

Most people don't like to make that address public or give it to other persons. Matter of trust.

One could always just type what is my ip address in the url bar and get a search that will in fact tell you your network facing ip address.
