Hi, guys,

What is the best way to delete the Midori web browser and perform a clean installation?

When I open Bodhi Linux web site on Google Chrome - it takes a fraction of a second to do it.

Simultaneously, trying to open the same web site on Midori - I've finished writing two posts on this forum in Chrome, and Midori is still spinning wheels.

There must be something wrong with Midori.

Please guide me in the right direction how to do it.

Thank you,

Val

A big thank you to everyone who contributes to Bodhi Linux

Hmm, some webservers refuse to handle requests from "unknown" browsers. Could you change the setting in the Midori preferences (tab Network) to identify itself as Firefox? Try it before reinstalling please and let us know the result.

For removing and reinstalling Midori in the terminal there are more ways. If something really is wrong you should remove the settings as well and the best command for that is:

sudo apt-get purge midori
# followed by
sudo apt-get install midori

If you want to keep the settings you can replace "purge" with "remove" in the first command.

By the way, is Midori your default browser? That would explain the issues you have with updating the system, showing the same slow behavior.

Enjoy,

Charles

Checked Midori settings - it was identifying itself as Firefox.

Removed it via the purge command with no problem.

As with all Terminal commands recently, it waits forever to install. Below is the error

Failed to fetch http://security.ubun...rity/InReleaseĀ Temporary failure resolving 'security.ubuntu.com'

Thank you,

Val

Reinstalled Midori - it is again lightning fast.

Still do not know what was the problem with it.

Hmm, the error indicates that it was unable to get the correct IP address. That could be for many reasons.

Glad it works again.

Enjoy,

Charles

Remove the trailing space in the address.

That is the repository for the daily security updates for ubuntu xenial.
