We don't have Danish. Al language packs we have can also be found in the AppCenter here.

We there be any in the future?
I think it necessary to have so many languages as possible, if Bodhi Linux should spread out worldwide.

If you feel its missing and should be there you could always offer to make it yourself if you have the time.

You could mail Jeff (lead dev) and Mark (head of docs) to see how to get started. Email addresses are on the team page.

Oh, and welcome to Bodhi!

The reason that you only see a limited number of language packs listed in the AppCenter is that those are the only languages for which we have active community members and have any hope to support if needed.

There's no special "added value" to the Bodhi language packs; they are just a collection of already available packages in the Ubuntu repositories. Unfortunately, I don't recall what other packages Jeff used to build those language packs, but you should be able to get a good result by looking through Synaptic for Danish language packages. 2 packages that would probably get you off to a good start are:
language-support-da
language-pack-da

Good luck, and welcome to Bodhi!

cheers

It would be easy enough to build the danish language pack as meta packahe then build a bod to add to the appcentre. Just a matter of jeff adding the metapckage to the repo and jose or ylee adding it to the appcentre once i get metapackage and bod built. I know ylee is rather busy for a while though. Mark let me know and i l'll see what i can do.

You could try installing the package language-selector (don't know if included by default) and then go to Main Menu → Application → Preferences → Select Language, to chose Danish. It should install the neccessary packages for you.

Hippytaff,

offtopic: Could you send me a list of all meta packages and write up something for it (see: http://appcenter.bod...e/softbundles/1). I'd like to add them to the appcenter so they get more front and center attention. CC me and ylee. If ylee is busy I will add them to the DB. :). Also if any of the apps in the meta packages are not in appcenter add them to the list so we have em all covered without broken links.

Thanks,
Jose

As ottermaton said - we will only be adding language packages to that page for which we have community members actively translating our documents to.

All the others can be installed via synaptic :)

Jose - I'll get the list to you asap, i have uploaded bods of the meta packages to the download server. Why do packages in the metapackage bods need to be on the appcentre indepent of the meta package bods? Or do i misunderstand? Maybe mail me rather than hijack this thread.

Jeff - np, I didnt realise we didnt have a danish translator.

Maybe svante, who started this thread, is interested in translating some... if so, where should he start? (More for future ref's.)

In case this may help....
I agree about adding a specific language only in case our users believes that's need.

I use my o/s in english language since even before using Linux, but english isn't my mother language. I found in my country a few references to Bodhi. By that time, we already had here a few language packs, in the app center. Although I never had before converted any distro to a different language, I decided to get involved as being able to use an english o/s was an advantage.

It was easy. I asked people in Ubuntu Forum in my country what packages would be needed. Downloaded and tested those packages. When all was working, contacted the dev team and provided all details. Now we have a language pack for portuguese ( european and brasilian).

Now, this is important:

Bodhi is Ubuntu and is also E17. Synaptic may provide localization for lots of languages, but Enlightenment its a different story. I suggest checking which languages E17 support. Otherwise you may end with a half done work.

ah.... to finalize, I still did something else: a Wiki Page on this subject.
Its a way to give back to the community.

Thanks for that input fore17. It's nice to hear from someone who has actually gone through the process of getting a language set up exactly how that's done. I'm sure this will help other users of other languages.

cheers

For now, I don't have the time to do any translation to Danish.
Maybe later...
