Hello. I'm looking for a dictionary app which supports different languages. I'm thinking of Lingo (from elementaryOS) because it looks sleek and good, all the opposite of StarDict. Anyone have tried something like that?

Forget Stardict. Stardict is no longer supported as long as I know. No forum, no dictionaries links. I use Goldendict and I am fully satisfied. You can find many dictionaries for it. Check it out:

Yep, there is a version in the lucid repos. And a special English database as well.
sudo apt-get install goldendict
the database -17 MB download- is called goldendict-wordnet. It might come with the package as it is a suggested part of it.

Yes GD is in repo, but is slightly obsolete. I found version from september 2011 which is great. https://launchpad.ne...urce/goldendict
GD is under heavy development and there are beta releases available. Unfortunately it is more easy for Win users which have exe file to download. Debs are from date I wrote above. But I can encourage you to build it from git. I am not experienced enough to cope with it. However, last beta release supports Sdict format and I can post a nice link with great dictionaries here:

BTW. Wordnet 3.0 is in repo but it is monolingual En-En dictionary.
PS: GD does not support full text searching. But I believe it will in the near future
PS2: Enable Forvo dictionary for pronouncing by native speakers. Its great:)

Full text searching is not in my needs. It would be nice though. About updating in the repos, I think this could be done by Jeff. I'll try to reach him and ask for it (I want to try it first and maybe point out to the deb files).
@Charles, thanks for english database, I'd love to have english, spanish (my native language) and italian.
