Got some free time and here is what I come up so far, for changing how icon section in Art gallery looks, this is merely a concept, which is waiting for lots of ideas firstly:

What I want from users:
  • Suggest what kind of software icon should appear here
  • which file format also should by added, added only which got in my head at the moment, now think html should by there also .doc and so on
  • Should style by same as E17 page?
  • share any ideas which you think should by good

Planing:
  • add start menu picture (or at-least a small part of it) while application tab is hovered
  • ~maybe split them, browsers in one side, file in other, but this would take more space, renaming takes less space. And moving so far is quite bugy in E17 desktop icons.
  • if icon is not changed, it might result in no icon at-all, so I will add "Default" icon or get icon, for STOP sign, or somthing

PS: Detourous background I think fits? Not too white not too dark?

EDIT: LibreOffice will by removed, and left only 1 Icon, it is not changed by icon themes

I like the concept! I don't really care for which icons you use actually. As long as they show some basic applications so that people get the gist of it it's good imo.

I suggest to make a limited choice, both apps and files, in total max 45? (5 rows, 9 columns)
Leave out what is never changed between icon themes, p.e. LibreOffice

Would be nice if it had a similar style as the theme section.

Here is a list of my personal choice:

Accessories
.. File Manager
.. Leafpad
.. LX-Terminal
.. XF-Burn
Preferences
.. Preferred Applications
.. Software Sources
Programming
.. Elementary Test
Games
.. AisleRiot
Graphics
.. Blender
.. Gimp
.. Inkscape
.. Mirage
Internet
.. Chromium Browser
.. Deluge
.. Firefox
.. Midori
.. Opera
.. Thunderbird
Sound & Video
.. Audacity
.. Cheese
.. Dead Beef
.. Istanbul
.. Mplayer
.. VLC
Office
.. Abiword
.. Evince
.. Gnumeric
System Tools
.. GParted
.. Synaptic
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Files = Folder; TAR; AVI; MPG; FLAC; MP3; BMP; JPG; PNG; HTML; ISO; TXT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apps = 28
Files = 12
Total = 40
EEE Box202, 1GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, WIN-XP SP3, Bodhi 2.3.0-32_non-pae
EEE PC 901, 1GB RAM, 12 GB SSD, WIN-XP SP3, Bodhi 1.4.0

I agree Charles, adding too much icons is not a good idea. To current ones, going to add:
leafpad, XF-Burner,Deluge, Thunderbird, Dead Beef, Istanbul, GParted, Synaptic and file format .sh
Going to remove:
LibreOffice, Mirage (it changes only in ~2 icon themes) File formats (bz2, gz, Ogg)
Then double check if they at-least changes, when icon theme is changed

Do not know about this still, pictures with icons will by still quite big, and they have less info then themes. But will see what I can do.

Here are latest concept, removed extensions, added/removed some app icon:

or

added file manager
removed clementine, abiword, qualculate, XBMC, istanbul, openshot, virtualbox (icon does not change, or changes only in few themes)

deadbeaf and adobe changes also in few themes, but still left them

Question is what to do with:
042 it is NOT included in bodhi icon pack
gnome is not in gallery, although it is installed by default

Beta page is here: ->> http://art.bodhilinu...dhi_icon_themes
As you can see it is similar to E17 page, going to add later navigation and size of icon theme.
Problem is that some themes do not change some icon, and that results in loss of icons, even in main menu. So what to do?
Leave and show the truth, or remove thous application which do so?:
simple folder (awoken, gmetalik)
midori (azenis, balanzan)
cheese (azenis, balanzan)
gnumeric (azenis,balanzan)
deadbeef (azenis,balanzan )
gparted (azenis,balanzan )
blender (balanzan, candy, elementary, gnome, jungle, lynx black, nuovext2, wood)
vlc (balanzan)
thunderbird ( candy, elementary, gmetalik, gnome, lynx black, wood)
synaptic (candy, elementary)
xchat (elementary)
transmision (elementary)
xfburner (gmetalik)
lxterminal (gmetalik)

Some icon themes works just flawlessly and some terrible... lots of missing icons, instead of using default, icon is set to none or some random file. Maybe after restart they would become default, do not know, just know that azenis and balanzan are terible, azenis is nice, but other one...

If I am going to redo image, then these software might by removed: cheese, deadbeef, adobe reader, opera, bluefish, leafpad,

Share any ideas you have...

Removed some software icons, remade all pictures, also re-sized them down to 80% size, because they did not fitted in artwiki, and had to by re-sized using code, now they are re-sized truly, which resulted in 2.83MB download save.
Now pictures looks normal, excluding:
awoken-> normal folder icon
Azenis-> rar, tar, pdf file formats
Balanzn-> blender, vlc. iso, rar, tar file formats. <--this theme really is good for nothing, low quality images, and lots of them missing.
Candy->blender
Elementary->Xchat, transmission, blender, synaptic,
Gmetalik->> normal folder icon, XFburner, lxterminal. Almost ALL file formats.
Gnome-> blender
Jungle->blender
LynxBlack->blender
Nuovext2->blender
Wood->blender

If I won't by lazy then I will remove blender, or simply gimp it

PS: current icon gallery has dead link for maxo remix.

Added icon theme sizes and navigation. Main page with Icon themes looks same as E17 (no categories, but maybe will add them later), by using resize code, pictures are sized same as E17 theme page, so they show not all, but enough to understand

Maybe I should add "fast install" link to icons?

Done. That seems all to Icon page, do not know if category is needed in there. There are not much of icon, and they all are almost same, except for some grey-scale and dark ones, and one which stand out of the rest, like "Faenza".
Maybe then if adding categories, they should by not based by colors like E17 but by they look, for example:
grey scale
unique

And others won't have any. Or just simply create one category "Users Choice" and add tags to best ones...? Maybe this could by applied not only for icons, make one category (maybe in first page of ArtWiki) Users choose which would direct to most unique icon, themes, gtks...?

PS: icon theme bodhi-042 is NOT in the icon theme pack. Will add it to gallery soon.

Recently created new GTK page and added some GTK themes which was mailed to me, but was not able to find links for ChocoLatte and Eidolon, maybe somebody could point my to them?

http://art.bodhilinu...i_gtk_themes_v2

Later will add navigation and maybe alter links from E17 gallery to this one for recommended GTK.

Choccolatte: http://cbowman57.dev...Latte-273193264
Eidolon: http://gnome-look.or...n?content=91361 I suppose we can remove openbox and metacity folder inside the theme, leave only gtk :D

It would by, but they are busy and I am not allowed to use external links. Although somebody was allowed already long time ago in HERE and I was denied to link to my wallpapers.
Still not really getting it, why we can not create a category only for external links, in which would by links to some really good materials, and if packers would get some extra time, they could visit it and pack to our repository.
ArtWiki is used for icon/gtk/e17 doubt it will hurt system like normal software and if so, it would by noticeable fast.
Whatever, it is not for us to decide

Has anyone made an icon for musescore? The standard one is soooo plain-looking.

Is it possible to to extract an icon or two from a set?

By the way, that upside-down VW medallion for Midori looks great!

Made new E17 themes gallery's recommend links, for GTK, to direct to new GTK gallery. Somebody should check if all links direct to new gallery (not old one, with all GTK in one page), I have no time for testing it.
Also latest themes (last ones in E17 gallery) had GTK themes randomized by me (because they were not in old gallery), if somebody know their true GTK recommends (WHICH ARE IN OUR REPOSITORY), post them here, I could guess them, but do not want to edit n times until it is done as it should.

GTK gallery is still missing navigation, but such thinks were not at all before my made mess, so it might go live if admin want it.
Missed GTK theme "Dust" which had dead link in GTK recommends (It was in Brown on Bodhi, removed it), it is also not in new GTK gallery.
GTK themes ChocoLatte and Eidolon has wrong links, somebody told me that when they were packed, it was forgotten to add word in front Bodhi-gtk or something similar, still did not get direct links, and did not have time to search for them, it would by best if these themes would by updated, with correct names, so I would not need to update multiple times same gtk.

In GTK themes there are "split" "GTK Themes added 2012.02.28" it will by removed, when GTK themes which are bellow it, will by directed to corresponding E17 themes. I could guess it which belong to which, but do not have time for it also.

Icon gallery is ready. (042 icon themes in not in icon theme pack)
