So this old thread is getting cluttered. Here will be the new place to post requests for software backports/additions to the Bodhi repository. I would also like to establish in this first post a format for posting software requests in, this way I can easily see what information is provided about the software. In a perfect world please provide the following when requesting a new piece of software or a software update:

  • Software Name
  • Requested Version Number
  • Link to Software Homepage
  • Link to Source Code
  • Link to Debian Package Source Code of requested version for the Ubuntu LTS base that the current Bodhi is built on (so 10.04 for 1.x.y or 12.04 for 2.x.y)

If you provide all of the above listed information the software you are requesting should be added to at the very least our testing repository within a few days and hopefully into the main repo without much delay.

Thanks!
~Jeff

key , so ill do the first request here:
Deluge - http://dev.deluge-to...g/wiki/Download

not that i really need an upgrade since the one we have is working great but it is from september 2010.
so since im not the only user (what another post say) why not ask for an upgrade to keep the repo fresh.

oh and also can you pls check if this version has the (gnome-)notification-daemon as dependency and if so remove it ?
that is a bug in the current version where this package is pulled in but not used, instead that daemon just go berserk on other programs and needs to be removed everytime after installing deluge.

Is this version newer than what is in the current repo? http://packages.debi...eeze/deluge-gtk

All the packages I find that are newer than this one require GTK3 - something that is not getting backported to Bodhi 1.x.y

Dear All,

Could you please add Kile 2.1.1 (which is the latest stable version) to the repository so we can install it trough synaptic package manager?

The web site of Kile is: http://kile.sourceforge.net/

The source code can be downloaded from: http://kile.sourcefo...ar.bz2/download

This can also be downloaded through the source forge project page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kile/

If you need any other info. please let me know.

Thanks very much for keeping Bodhi going!!!

manjula.

PS. I have also posted this request somewhere else by mistake.

The version of usb-modeswitch-data in the current repos is outdated. There is a new version available with number 20110805-1. That one comes with oneiric and I would love to have it in our repos (and Bodhi 1.4).
TIA
Charles.

Thanks Jeff, but I can not install usb-modeswitch nor usb-modeswitch-data. They are dependent from each other but refuse installing because of version conflicts.
When I want to install the app it says that the old data are there and it will not refresh them. And if I want to install the data it refers to the old app and refuses as well.
Can you solve that problem?

It looks like the upstream packager included some poorly written code - it builds but fails to install. Removed them for now, will have to take a crack at it again later.

I'm having an issue. I installed Polly trough Synaptic but for some reason can't seem to get it started :(
When I type polly in the terminal I get nada and couldn't find it with my application finder.
Could it be because I'm using Xfce instead of E17?

It looks like that package I built up only contains the Polly docs. The maintainer of that PPA you linked to source packages in has created them a way that does not allow them to be ported easily.

Aw, that's too bad.
No biggie tho, gonna try and get it another way.
I already tried adding the PPA but it came back with a 404 error :(
Maybe compiling it from source, keep you up to date.

libparted:
i hope this can be upgraded at all, i just noticed the version we have suffer from this bug https://bugs.launchp...ted/+bug/558431
looks like it affects a lot different thumbdrives and for my bad i just bought an expensive high speed model where that bug takes affect.
libparted is also used by the installer which means if i have that drive plugged in the installer stalls forever even when not used as boot medium so its important to solve that in my opinion.....
