I've done a dist-upgrade, then installed kernel 3.2.0-19-generic,
reboot System worls well and fast, but theres no internet connection (realtek)
So now I went back to the old kernel.

You need to remove "apparmor" for the this latest kernel to get a connection with nm-applet.

Since this morning I am running Bodhi 1.4.0 including the new kernel 3.2.0-19-generic on my Dell Latitude D820. The first kernel upgrade ever for me was really exciting...and an old and working kernel is a keeper :-)

I had to go through the whole routine of installing kernel, kernel headers and removing apparmor - but now I can post again and learned something in the process ;-)

I have chosen Desktop - Blue Angel, and I think I have never seen a more appealing desktop.
It`s much better than the white / pink in 1.3 and it`s seems much faster and stable.

Have downloaded the adobe java plugins and SeaMonkey and it`s all as it should be.

I`m running it from a persistent USB, 8 gb is all I need at home.
I made it persistent by Unetbootin.

The only drawback is that I cannot, as far as I see, change the keyboard to NO without doing an install.
Or, if not installing it create a launcher with a special command to set it to my preferred.
But I can live with that.

Excellent work Jeff and I was delighted to see Applications working correctly in PcManFm. Glad I had a small role in improving this distro

As expected, for offline users I created a Service Pack 4 bod to update from Bodhi 1.3 to Bodhi 1.4. Let me know by PM or e-mail if you have any issues or problems using this bod.

So happy to see version 1.4.0 is up and running! I just burned it and am posting this message from a liveCD at the moment - for those that do not remember, I had major troubles with 1.3.0 and was never able to have wireless using Bodhi, sadly leaving me to use another Linux distro.. So, this happy post means wireless on my desktop computer is up and running right out of the box. Way to go guys!

It is less than 10% larger than previous versions (30ish megs) I included a couple larger default themes on this disc.

that website (sourceforge) prevent Iranian users to download files.
i am openSUSE user but i read about Bodhi and i really want test it now.

I need a direct download link not a torrent link. (torrent ports are blocked in our organization).
please upload the iso file in a file sharing site such as "ifile" and put the link here for me and for other users that have similar problem.

Still, it look some kinda fat comperd to previous versions Maybe it is only a weird illusion:
3** MB is less then a half 700MB CD (yes although it is ~380) but same thing applies to prices 4.99
4** MB is more then a half 700MB CD, and some might start to think about installing for example Ubuntu, which comes with already installed office and some other unneeded extras. I DO NOT SAY THAT IT SHOULD INCLUDE, STICK TO MINIMALISM AS ALWAYS.
If you do release (I know you might go straight to 2.0 version, because 1.5 would by only for updates), I hope it will go back to less then 400MB, by it 39* MB if it is possible.

PS: maybe you already can guess what size Bodhi 2.0.0 release.iso will be?

what i should do upgrade it to the last version and how ?
i'm using wired network auto eth0 is that a probleme because i see a probleme in network after upgrading

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.2.0-19

Will update the repositories and install the latest kernel.

If your machine has more than 4GB of RAM I suggest you install the PAE kernel instead:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.2.0-19-pae

If you have any proprietary drivers you will need to reinstall them with the newer kernel so uninstall any proprietary driver and install the kernel headers:

sudo apt-get purge fglrx nvidia-curret && sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.2.0-19

(or if you installed the pae kernel, install the pae headers too by adding "-pae" to the end of above line).
(also note that I don't know all of the package names for all of the proprietary packages, this command might not be copy/paste material).

Now that you've installed the kernel it's time to reboot, you'll notice a new line in your GRUB startup menu, that's the one you want to boot.

And if you experience problems with networking:

sudo apt-get purge apparmor

That's about it I guess, good luck!

If you are really worried about 380MB VS 417MB...

Both are over half of 700.

Increased disc size is a straw man argument. The underlying infrastructure of system packages is completely out of Jeff's hands if users want a useable system out-of-the-box.

By "useable," I don't mean applications---I mean a fundamental system that includes a fully working Xorg, an E17 desktop and a liveCD/gui install experience.

If the disc size were 150MB and it ran only as a direct install (via an ncurses interface) and used cfdisk to manually partition the hard drive...and used Lilo (because Grub takes up more MB) and everybody installed only the wireless and graphics driver they needed (by checking dmesg) since unused drivers eat up a MB here and an MB there--

C'mon....

Folks would wish the disc was larger so they could have a nice gui install and a pretty splash screen.

Jeff's taken a working minimal Ubuntu core and turned it into an honest-to-goodness distribution---with its own repositories, tools and a refined E17 desktop. As few applications installed by default so everybody can mold Bodhi to their own preferences. An exceptional community of active users helping one another out.

Most distros this young have little or no community...and here we are, kvetching about a few extra megs?

The Law of Inflation alone ("With few exceptions, all programs grow over time") will mean that 1.5 will be larger than 1.4, 2.0 will be larger than 1.5, 3.0 will be larger than....

The majority of growth will be coming from that minimal Ubuntu base, over which there is no fine-grained control.

My two cents...viva 1.4!

(Typing this from the yet-to-be alpha Bodhi64...where I'm doing my best to keep system package sizes as lightweight as I can and squashing bugs I already stomped.)
