Yesternight, I just ordered a brand new 64-bit dual-core computer to replace my old one that I've had for 8 years. It has 3gb of memory and a TB of hard drive space. Be it that I've used LinuxMint 11, and Ubuntu <10.04--I have grown accustomed to LXDE's interface than from GNOME's. What advice would you have for installing version 1.4.0 on it? Will I have to reconfigure the wifi again than with 1.3.0? And being that the new box uses less power [220 watts], will e17 work on it? I'm actually veering towards lighter desktops [i.e., LXDE, Enlightenment, Fluxbox, XFCE, etc.].
Any advice would be appreciated...thanks

I've already tried the last version [1.3.0] on my laptop, @Bodhi.Buddy; however, while I was configuring the wifi and usb, something went wrong and it wouldn't boot...I'll be upgrading to a newer laptop anyways. Here are the specs for my laptop:
Acer Travelmate 2300 series [made in 2004]
Intel Celeron M @ 1.5 gHz, 32-bit and single-core
2GB RAM
15GB HD
...and for my new desktop:
Acer eMachines desktop
AMD Athlon II Dual-Core 64-Bit processor @ 2.8gHz
3GB RAM
1TB HD
I'm going to try to see if Ubuntu 12.04 will work correctly on it, and if not, then I'll try Bodhi Linux. I haven't even tried Unity or the newer GNOME desktops yet...but in spite of the fact that CPUs w/ less power [<300 watts] are the rage at this moment, an Enlightenment desktop would fit the need perfectly...besides, it's the only desktop that I haven't even considered [PS: I'm an LXDE user, BTW]

I am an avid fan to LXDE myself, I prefer it to any other DE out there. It just does many of the things much better for what I need for me than any of the others. One of the first things I look for in trying a new distro is to see what the default DE is before trying it out. If LXDE is the default, it "earns more points" from me. If LXDE can be installed after the installation, it earns points, just not as many. I like Bodhi because of its fastness in response times and low system resources draw. I also like its uniqueness in how it "operates", I am still trying to "learn" it due to having "lived" in the LXDE environment for most of my time with Linux. I must say, it is fun to use.

@Bodhi.Buddy, my first experience with LXDE tracks right back to Slitaz. For someone that has an old aftermarket lap/desk/top I tell you, it's an energy-saver! You can put it on a newer 220 watt desktop and it has the swagger to run so efficiently without any troubles--much like Enlightenment E17. This experience came when I discovered that all my currently-used programs worked faster with LXDE and E17 than with Gnome. Speaking of my aforementioned laptop, I've bought a better usb wifi adapter @300mbps which will work better than that small one...

Hello Nick, and welcome to the forum! Developer and Lead system tester for Peppermint OS, huh? That must be interesting, challenging, and rewarding. I wish I had the talents and stamina to do such things.

Hey thanx, Nick@AsheGuy79 and Bodhi.Buddy. I've just bought an external usb wifi card for my laptop...and boom--IT WORKS OUT OF THE BOX! So now, I don't need to install a driver w/ ndiswrapper or ndisgtk to use the integrated wifi on the laptop.
Overall, after a week with Bodhi Linux, I've gradually grown in love with Enlightenment's E17 desktop!
