Hi there,

I'm new with Bodhilinux and I'm desperate.

How could I change the backgroundcolor of selected text or hilighted items? In default settings the color is lightgrey. Changing the theme has no effect on it.

I use Thunderbird and emails in the list-view have an alternate background: white and grey. If I click on an email, the background of this selected item is grey, too. So it is difficult to see, which items are selected, if there "normal" background is grey, too. I want to change this, so the selected item has an orange background i.g. But how???

I tried to solve this problem by searching the net but could'nt find a helping answer... :(

Thanx for your help.

Ade, STEFAN.

I think this: http://www.bodhilinu...r_settings.html documentation may be what you are looking for.

Or possibly this: http://www.bodhilinu...ompositing.html
where you can change the colour/transparency/look of the window background. (suggest you skip the "Ecomorph" part.

Good luck :)

Thank you for the links. The first one was helpful:

LXAppearance is not included in a default installation of Bodhi Linux.

There you are: you have to install a piece of software to change the colors of the desktop... :(

I installed lxappearance and tried to chance just the backgroundcolor (checking the "Use customized color scheme"-button) but still this could not help. Bodhilinux would not remember the changes. Even with "sudo lxappearance" I had no chance.

But what helped was to change the hole color scheme (ie to redmond).

Not very userfriendly... :(

You can change the desktop colours without LXAppearance. afaik LXAppearance is used to change/match the theme appearance of non e17 (GTK/QT) applications to the current e17 theme. if no matching GTK/QT theme is available.

Not sure this is pertinent, but you might try: Main Menu -> Settings -> All -> Look -> Applications and un-tick the box for "Match E17 theme if possible". Then make your changes.

Also, you do click apply before exiting LXAppearance right? If you don't, I believe any changes made are aborted.

To change something about the Thunderbird theme, I suppose you have to change your GTK theme with Settings -> All -> Looks -> Applications .
If I remember correctly custom colors didn't work well with LXAppearance.
You can directly edit the gtkrc of your theme to select your favorite color, for example. To do this you have to edit, with administrator permission, the file /usr/share/themes/YOURTHEME/gtk2.0/gtkrc . On first lines you can find the tipical six color editable with LXAppearance.

Feel free to ask if something is not clear :D
