Type 1 Fonts Not Seen by LibreOffice 3.6 Bodhi 2.0.1 fonts are visible in other apps

I have a collection of Type 1 fonts that I have installed by placing them in /usr/share/fonts/type1/subfolder. I made sure subfolder and contents are owned by root and recursively chmod +r on all files to make sure they were readable, then ran sudo fc-cache -f -v. Every other app on the system allows you to select these fonts and renders them onscreen without issue, including leafpad, midori, chromium and even Thunderbird. For some reason, though, LibreOffice only shows the installed truetype fonts. Any idea why LibreOffice is blind to these fonts?

I need to revise the subject to read "No added fonts seen by LibreOffice..." I just tried adding a TrueType font in /usr/share/fonts/truetype and have exactly the same issue. A clean install did not fix the problem.

Can someone else at least try this to see if you have the same issue? I've raised the problem on the LibreOffice support forum and email list but have no response. It'd be great to know if this is a personal problem.

Sorry Try putting the fonts in ~/.fonts and updating font cache. Create the folder if you don't have it.

I have a quick fix. First, create a .fonts folder in your home directory. Then install the "gnome-font-viewer" in Synaptic, double click on the font you want to install, then click install. Voila! You should have it automagically appear in Libre Office.

to ylee: tried your suggestion. behavior is identical to when the fonts are in /usr/share/fonts. Type 1 fonts are seen and useable in all other applications, not in LibreOffice.

to treed873, tried as suggested. gnome-font-manager said it "installed" a selected Type 1 font. As before, the font is visible in all apps EXCEPT LibreOffice. The problem persists. No help from the LibreOffice forums, either.

I uninstalled LibreOffice and installed Openoffice 3.4. Guess what? Same result - no Type 1 fonts are available. I am truly at a loss.

I'm really not sure what LibreOffice is doing differently. Best I can do is suggest you ask in #LibreOffice or ask on the LibreOffice mailing list at LibreOffice.org - we use their official latest Debian builds (currently 3.6.1)

Did you create a .fonts folder in your home directory? LibreOffice AND OpenOffice looks for that directory for fonts. Make sure that there is a .(period) in front of the fonts folder.

Yes. Created .fonts in my home folder. ran fc-cache and the fonts were discovered there and available to other apps, just not LO.
