  2. ATI on Bodhi 2.0.0

    31 July 2012 - 04:23 PM

Bodhi 2.0.0 (stable) (32bit) Only. I will not cover 64bit system on this tutorial.

    1. Check your kernel mine is at the time of this tutorial: 3.4.0.3-generic

    Command: uname -r

2 - AMD added support for linux kernel 3.4 in version 12.6.

    2.1 - create a folder called amd-ccc and download:

    http://www2.ati.com/...-x86.x86_64.run

3 - Check to make sure your graphics card is supported on this update:

    http://wiki.cchtml.c...ex.php/Hardware

Command to check graphics card: lspci -v | grep VGA

4 - Let's run some cleaup with these commands: (If it is a fresh install of Bodhi 2.0 you can skip this part)

    Command: sudo sh /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh
Command: sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev*

    4.1 - Installing necessary dependencies:

    Command: sudo apt-get install build-essential cdbs fakeroot dh-make debhelper debconf libstdc++6 dkms libqtgui4 wget execstack libelfg0 dh-modaliases

5 - Install the driver downloaded previously by running the command:

Command: sudo sh amd-driver-installer-*.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise

** Note: If you get this error message ignore it.

error: can't parse dependency: libobase-en-math, etc.

*** Note: When it finishes, you will end up with 3 .deb files.

    6 - Install them:

    Command: sudo dpkg -i *.deb

7 - If you get an error for broken packages. Go to synaptic package manager. Edit > Fix Broken Packages.

Once fixed, run step number 6 again.

8 - Once finished run: sudo aticonfig --initial

    9 - Reboot your system.

** Note: while rebooting after the installation, the leaves on the Bodhi loader will not move **
    (give it a few)

*** Note: I run fglrxinfo but I got this error message:

X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 139 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request: 66 ()
Serial number of failed request: 13
Current serial number in output stream: 13

    ** DISREGARD **

10 - Your dual screen should be working. You should notice your resolution changed.

11 - Run a sudo amdcccle to bring up the AMD Console.

    12 - Setup your screens

    13 - Click apply & Accept.

14 - Reboot machine for the last time (Bodhi Loader leaves will now work and your setup should have been saved.)

    ** Enjoy **
