I've found the most convenient way of working is to launch PCManFM at boot time (by adding it to Startup Applications in Settings > Settings Panel > Apps). This automatically mounts any connected drives (so that VLC and other applications can use them), as well as giving me instant access to the file manager.

In Topic: streaming audio capture app?

I use Osmoma audio recorder for capturing streaming audio. You can get it at https://launchpad.ne...hive/ubuntu/ppa. Although you have to add a PPA to your system, which isn't recommended, I've been using it for over 3 years without any issues. It's very easy to use.

If PCManFM is giving you the message when trying to unmount "Not authorized to perform this operation" it indicates that some other program has mounted your card.

Trying running PCManFM before inserting the cards, then insert them with PCManFM running.

So the problem is solved, but it's left me totally mystified!

Thanks for the swift response, DOOMguy. I've just tried that (enclosing in single quotes), and it made no difference - the same error message appears. It's really weird - I've had  no problems with this startup command in other versions of Bodhi.
