Unique self-introduction :D. Welcome here...

EDIT:

you are never too old for learning new stuff. I have been using Linux just a few years. Still considered to be a newbie although I am 41 years old. And about you literature question:

Don't be scared with amount of pages. Just pick up what you are interested in and read. I have found this Linux bible just week ago and it looks pretty sufficient for my needs. Enjoy :)

thank you for the link :) i look forward to the read

In Topic: Bodhi Linux 4.2.0 Relased

graywizard:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

is all you need to update. eepdater should be able to handle it. Mr.J is simply trying to tell you that Jeff added swami-control panel to Bodhi 4.2 as an extra package.

If you want it you need to install it if you haven't already. It is not a needed package.

clean and easy :) thank you much

In Topic: installing bodhi on a gpt disk

20 May 2017 - 05:36 PM

the installer was kind enough to tell me the first couple times:

if you continue, the changes below will be written to the disks.

the partition tables of the following devices are changed:

scsi1 (0,0,0) (sda)

the following partitions are going to be formatted:

partition #1 of scsi1 (0,0,0) (sda) as ext4

partition #5 of scsi1 (0,0,0) (sda) as swap

the final (successful) installation i got:

the following partitions are going to be formatted:

#1 as esp

#2 as ext4

#3 as swap

i even made notes the last unsuccessful time that it sounded like the gpt was going to be changed, but wanted to give it a shot and see. that is when i finally popped up here to see if you kind folk could point me in the right direction :)
