  1. My 3d acceleration video driver does not let me adjust brightness of the backlight after it initializes, and I always end up with max brightness, unless I use my brightness hotkeys during that infinity logo loading screen (which only lasts a few seconds). I would like to run this script during that screen as root. echo 6 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness I tried lxdm loginready and it did not work. thanks

    Enlightenment Update???

no screenshots but the about page does show 0.17.2.1, and I have received this update message last night (but told it not to send me any more), and I run an update every night.
  4. https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa that repository includes the most recent driver I think (well at least more recent than the stock repositories.)

    Enlightenment Update???

just got it. ran my upgrade script and nothing showed up. subsequently I ignored the message. this would be annoying for newbies, for sure.
  6. that wiki did not work for me. What worked best for me was to just install it from synaptic. If you want a newer version than what you see, there are repositories you can add. just say so and I'll find them.

    Need help with installing printer

First before we install that driver, lets see if cups will work out of the box with the preinstalled stuff: Hook up the printer then in cups click administration then click find new printers. Is your printer there?? if so add it and test print. If it's usb this is easy, If you want network/wifi printing, we can set that up later. If your printer is not found... then we will figure out that driver installation, in which case please post the link to where you found the driver so I can take a look.

    General computer healthcare

I can't suspend my main computer in bodhi cause of a bug or something, so it powers off when I don't use it. Not a big deal though since bodhi boots up in under 20 seconds from full shutdown. as for what is worse for the hardware... If the choice is between sleep and shutdown, I am not sure. If the choice is between on and shutdown, I would go with shutdown. Leaving it on keeps things like the fan spinning, which could lead to an eventual fan failure (which could then easily kill a laptop). moving parts have a bad habit of breaking, given enough time...

    How do you autostart Conky?

I just followed this guide to making startup programs. http://wiki.bodhilinux.com/doku.php?id=startup_commands

    lag fix

If you find bodhi lags in videogames, or with bluetooth mouse inputs or anything of the sort, try a low latency kernel. sudo apt-get install linux-lowlatency then when you reboot, in the grub menu select the low latency kernel.

    Seeking opinions

if you really want them to keep it upgraded, couldn't you run automatic upgrades as a cron job?

    Appcenter dependencies

I tried downloading filelight and it wanted to download about 65 packages including kde and pulseaudio stuff. After some googling I found a program called baobab, with the same functionality, but installed with no extra dependencies. I would recommend replacing filelight in the appcenter with baobab, as this is supposed to be a lightweight distribution.
