problems with getting the live version running!

Success! I burned the x64 version to a CD. The first options did not work (again ) I got a "welcome to Bodhi Linux 2.0.0!" then a prompt like this: bodhi@bodhi:_ - and I could do commands but since I have no clue what to write... Boot into RAM did it for me and I got to tinker with it a bit last night. I tried 5 Linux distributions thus far and by far Bodhi has the most slick design and it is really fast. What I am missing on all distributions is smth like the Ubuntu Restricted Extras Pack (which is kind of what I mean but not quite). I guess what I can call it is smth like Kick Start Entertainment Pack and I would have it include all the codecs that you need to run all SD and HD video formats + the audio codecs for the .mp3 .ogg and .wav And of course the flash and java. I believe that these essentials are a must for all non geek users. Anyway - thanks to all for the help. I am now gonna play with this and read some books on Linux since I see that basic knowledge will just not cut it. I will be sure to make a new post if I install Bodhi on my system as a dual boot or even buy a net or a notebook for it. Cheers Guys! Be sure to PM me if you have suggestions or any thoughts whatsoever.

problems with getting the live version running!

Thanks guys I will do a few more tests with the "boot to ram" and x64. I will use that annoying "verify written data" feature of nero. It did occur to me that it might be a bad disk, so I will try again and I'll be sure to write if I get it to work. Best wishes!

problems with getting the live version running!

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the reply man. Well as I explained I did try the latest 32 bit version to 3 separate machines (x2 PCs and a laptop) and I was getting stuck on the install... I did however get the live versions for Ubuntu and Elementary going with ease so not sure what I'm doing wrong. Since my Linux knowledge base is poor to non I don't really know what to do. I'd try that non-PAE disk if you can tell me where to download it? I really wanna go for the Bohdi distro since I read a lot about of them others and Bodhi is what clicked with my idea of a desktop OS. I bet that you will insist on some specs so here is some info for my main system: CPU TYPE: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor CPU SPEED: 2.86 GHz SYSTEM MEMORY: 8.59 GB VIDEO CARD MODEL: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series VIDEO CARD MEMORY: 1.86 GB VIDEO CARD DRIVER: aticfx32.dll DESKTOP RESOLUTION: 1920x1080 HARD DISK SIZE: 895.35 GB Thanks for the support and patience Cheers!
  4. Hi there! I've tried to make a bootable USB stick but sadly I cannot even get pass black screen there. As for the CD version - I get to the first page with these options: Live - boot the Live system xFircevcse - boot Live in Generic safe graphics mode ... .... I tried the first 3 and they all get stuck (waiting for over 5 mins and nothing happens)...I tried this on my PC and laptop. I checked for integrity as well... What am I doing wring? I would provide system specs but since I've tried it on multiple hardware. So what am I doing wrong? I am burning the image with Nero 6 Cheers!
