wow... i found a workaround. Everything has the crossover menus in there... I can totally use that. Problem solved! Edit: doh... forgot a few words in my excitement. The Everything has the crossvover menus in there.

I will do that. Honestly, for a rc, this is really solid. To be comepletely honest, this is the last showstopper. If i can help make it better, i would love to do that.

help needed on a few issues.

I got this solved... this is how i did it: In settings > apps >personal application launchers i added an entry calls xscreensaver start and put in the command /usr/bin/xscreensaver -nosplash Save Apply Then went into startup applications and selected it. logged out and back in and it worked. I can use this for a bunch of stuff i have custom commands for.

  6. Yep same here... i assumed everyone was careful about ppas.... but i guess making that assumption was wrong.
  7. thank you for a very nice reply. The way you explained it makes sense. I dont add ppa's willy nilly either. I was assuming everyone was as careful as me. But after thinking about it, i think i may be an exception. I only add ones that are vetted out. Thanks

    yes sir
  9. Help me understand why. I am not trying to pick a fight, however I would really like to know why. Not having ppas makes fairly difficult in times. For example, java8, wine1.7, playdeb (1000s of games for linux), google chrome, insync, etc. In my case, I have to use the latest nvidia drivers for the Titan i have. Those at this time are 346. If you download chrome from google, when you install the deb with dpkg, it adds a ppa to /etc/apt/sources.list.d. Software that changes quickly, like chrome or needs security fixes, need rapid updates. Wine, for example, the stable and "unstable" in the default ubuntu ppa do not work very well. You have to go to winehq and get their ppa for wine1.7 which works great. Are you saying, If i made a request for wine1.7 and chrome, you would add those? If this has been covered elsewhere, can you point me in the correct direction?

I am not sure what you are asking, but i will give it shot: KDE/Gnome have no issues with crossover. I did try the kde setting in menu settings after installing k3b under menu, but alas, no change. Are you aware of any stand alone menu that could be added? I have searched and could not find anything. Definitely, not the ideal way going forward, but would at least get me in the right direction. I would have no problem using 2 menus, one just for crossover if needed. Everything seems to be tied to the DE you are running. Also, i just installed the 32bit version on an old dell D620 with an nvidia nv110m quadro chip and fought the nouveau driver. Was getting GPU lock errors in the console. However, using vesa, i was able to get bodhi installed. But more work needed to be done from command line before getting into gui. I am glad you got the tty working. That would have been a little tough without it. Again, thanks for your help Jeff.

trying on laptop... encryption of disk errors out but there is a simple workaround. open terminology and type sudo swapoff -a then the wizard will not error out and will proceed as normal.
  12. yea... your best bet would be use the nvidia drivers. I would recommend using the edgers ppa which has been absolutely solid for me. Do a google search for edgers ppa and it will walk you through what you need to do. if you are still stuck, i can post a howto install the edgers ppa and install the right drivers.

    Systray icons

try trayer. I have been playing with that and it looks to solve the problem in the short term. I am guessing onces the programs catch up with the DE, trayer wont be needed.

i just realized i forgot the punchline.. Overall, rc3 is very solid outside of the things i ran into in the top post. Even if i cannot run this on my gamer, it is definitely going on my laptops. However, I have not given up running it on my gamer just yet. I dont give up that easy.

I run the exact kernel in mint with no problems. I was just bring it up in case someone else had the same issue. I was able to work around it. That is what i was attempting to do last night. I will see if it is in the history or if i can recreate it. Last night was hectic at work. I did that and tried all of them, some would not even like wine, but some did. I am laying this problem at crossover's feet, not bodhi's or enlightenment. I am handicapped in that i do not understand the menuing system enough to hack around this issue. I will keep working on it and try to find a work around. Everything else does not seem to be a problem. No, these were the only two i tried. I do not think it is the actual packages, but the dialog. Do we need to accept the license every time or can that be implied? The act of installing should be implied acceptance of the license. ok.. .that makes sense. I had not thought about that. Thanks.
