    can't c network

hi Randy, thanks, I checked and I did NOT have dolphin, so I did sudo apt-get to install it. it works great thanks so much. but how can I get network icon showing on desktop under catagory "places"? also if i use libreoffice, how can i get network icon showing if i want to open or do save as , like in using okular? that would be a bonus. but I am efficient with dolphin file manager NOW, thanks for all your help.

    can't c network

hi RAndy, I installed okular from command line and was not paying attention to dependencies installed. can i check for this ? if so, HOW? It appreas in systemm tools, i'm using "enlightenment file manager" which I guess is the default? I installed samba as well, so when i'm in okular after network icon, it shows 3 choices: -network, when i click it does nothing. -samba shares, when i click this i get two of our company networks, and clicking on either lets me go as described above -rectangular folder icon , add network folder. so what are your thoughts, install another file manager? i don't use the file manager, per say, i go to my home folder and acess files there, then click file name and default app opens. i m also just dabbling with "everything" and now realize it is like "cortina search in win 10) i don't have win 10 anywhere. sorry i mentioned it, but my wife does on her new lenovo laptop. soon to be a dual boot, with some linux distro.

    can't c network

i am running bodhi 2.4 on a work netbook dual booted with win 7 starter, i have wireless network connection, and surf the web as well as use evolutioh for E-mail and print to a local printer. on my desk top, places are: -file system -acer ( win OS and data partician C drive) -PQ service -system reserve one day I was opening up a PDF from e-mail using okular, then i chose to save as, in okular places showed as: -home -"network" ( round world icon ) -root -trash -108.8 Gib hard drive ( linux ) -system reserved -acer ( win OS) i could also in Okular "open" and get the same places. using "network" in okular, i could navigate to the company networks, store data on a share drive, access other company computers ect. only thing is i can only do this in okular, not libre office or any other app. how can i get gui to display "network" icon even on desk top places? i have access to it, but just in okular. thanks for your help.

    new work printer

ok thanks, so how do I upgrade to bodhi 3? this way i can keep all my current data and setttings, opposed to doing a new install and starting from scratch. Then I will install a GUI for finding printers (local and network) as you and Randy have both suggested? thanks again for all your help.

    HP printer does not print

Hi, I believe that HP sells laptops with Linux preinstalled, so their printer should Support Linux. besides having an old laptop with bodhi I have a newer one dell D630 old to but newer than Acer 230, it runs Ubuntu 15.10/ I bought HP office jet pro 8610. Went to system printer, add printer, wireless, it found printer, and since I was hooked up to internet, it found and downloaded and inatalled hplips. With in about 30 seconds, I was prompted to print test page. That is Linux power. Other windows PC, not mine, but wife and daughter had to either go on line or use CD to download driver. Glad U got it working in bodhi. I have same challenge with my work Netbook running bodhi 2.4, not sure if network printers support Linux. One kyocera the other Konica Minolta. Luckly netbook is dual boot with win 7, can always boot to win 7 to print.

    new work printer

Hi Jeff, bcuz Netbook only has 1 GB of RAM installed 2.4 I was successfull connecting to internet and E-mail So last thing is finding other computers on network and printers on network. I also have Ubuntu laptop I use at home, it has system, printers in GUI, so it was easy to find network printer at home wifi. And connet. I installed cups (using terminal ) in bodhi, but DOn't know what to do next. I did not c system printer. Thanks 4 your help.

    new work printer

Hi so i imagine "cups" is an app? i will look it up. from the above i am hooked up wirelessly to the company network for internet and e-mail. i am using evolution and got it working great. my first question is how do I find network printers on wireless network? Running win 7, on the netbook, I can go to the network icon and see a printer, one is B&W lazer by kyocera the other one colour by Konica minolta (C 280) , then I choose add network printer, set up hjappens and it works as we have the drivers. so how do i go to ( access the company network wirelessly, and "add" a network printer? I also have bodhi V2 runing at home on an old acer, dual boot with win XP. I plugged in the printer first time in USB port of laptop ( epson CX7800 i think) to print a document in libre office. I was connected to internet. bodhi identified the printer and printed the document. i did not install a driver. simple scan also worked. wow that is amazing. I am guessing bodhi magicaly got printer driver from internet and installed it, or since laptop also runs XP and had driver installed for printer running win XP , bodhi searched C: and found printer driver and installed it to use printer. at my work these are larger printers, but fairly new. when I tried to print a document using bodhi in libre office 5, no printer ( network printer ) was identified, so my option was to print to file. thanks for any help you can provide.

Bodhi on Raspberry Pi 2 B

hi, I remember reading a while ago somewhere, Jeff was trying to install bodhi on a tablet, that also ran an Arm procesor, he said some features did not work, due to Arm processor. I assume bodhi, as is, will NOT run on any tablet well either, as they all use Arm procesors, like R pi 2B? No wonder Ubuntu project does not have a tablet out, that I have herd of ( I could be wrong) . It sounded like a good concept by bob shuttleworth to have the same OS run on a phone, tablet and desktop. Doesn't seem likek it has succedded yet, but the by product is stable Ubuntu on computer and lets not forget Bodhi from Ubuntu base. I also read that people in netherlands trying to use "sailfish" on tablet, but have not sent any tablets out after crowdfunding sucess. if anyone knows different please let me know.

    celeron install

so the problem I found out why none of the light weight distros worked was the intel video driver. he ( Glaser, a linux student ) removed the intel video driver and used "frame buffer" video driver instead remember this old celeron laptop was to be a dual boot. it had win XP and bodhi installed. but bodhi would not run from the HDD, scren went black. he fixed the problem so bodhi 2.4 runs lighting fast as a dual boot on my old celeron laptop here is what he did in terms of commands in the command line. chroot : login to the system on laptop using bodhi on LIVE USB apt-get remove package apt-cache search pacakage Xserver-xorg-video-intel:intel driver this removed the intel video driver and used frame b.uffer video driver instead. this issue is now solved as bodhi 2.4 runs from HDD fast. i imagine any of the other lightweight distros would work now as well.
