    Bodhi 4.5.0 Testing ISO Images

AppPack ISO works well in Live session. Enabling desktop icons is pretty straightforward, even for an Elementary novice like myself. The Meltdown and Spectre patches display no performance impact on my test system. Stable and quick. Thank you for the option to enable desktop icons Jeff - much appreciated, and thanks to the Waiter for getting it done. Moksha keeps getting closer to replacing Xfce as my daily driver with each Bodhi release. amerigena

    New Moksha version for testing

Thank you. I downloaded and installed the updated moksha package in a bodhi 4 VM. The VM has been stable and updating moksha seems to have had no effects on stability or useability. And personally, I appreciate this concession from the lead developer : he may not like or use desktop icons, but for some of us (less advanced) users, they are important. Thank you again. Should any issues arise, I will post. amerigena

    New Moksha version for testing

And question to the waiter : what exactly does Desktop icons enabling : menu-settings-modules-files-EFM starter (load) mean? Is this a common Moksha / elementary configuration file which needs to be edited, or a startup item? Thank you. amerigena

    New Moksha version for testing

Is it possible for a non-team-member to test this alpha? If possible, I would very much like to. Is it just a matter of editing repositories and adding a testing repo? If so, I think I can handle that. Thank you. amerigena

    Upgrading Bodhi 3.0.0 to E22?

So far, this Bodhi install has been extremely stable, and since everything has been working so well, I'm getting accustomed to the lack of desktop icons - I haven't been able to figure out how to add folders to iBar yet. So no upgrade to E22. Thanks again. amerigena

    Seen Charles. Thank you. amerigena

    Upgrading Bodhi 3.0.0 to E22?

So : 1). Install latest Bodhi. 2). Add testing repository. 3). Apt update && apt install enlightenment terminology, like the directions I've see before? And yes, installing e22 will remove Moksha, understood. Thank you amerigena

    Upgrading Bodhi 3.0.0 to E22?

I wasn't aware of that, Jeff. I'll try installing E22 that way. Thank you. amerigena

    Upgrading Bodhi 3.0.0 to E22?

This question is only partially Bodhi related, so I will understand completely if no one chooses to answer or venture an opinion; that being said, here goes : According to the reading I've done, the only way to install E22 is via PPA (which is frowned upon in these forums, I understand). But, If I burned and installed Bodhi 3.0.0 on a system, removed the default Bodhi repositories, and added this PPA, it should, in theory, update the Bodhi installation to the current version of Enlightenment, E22? As I said, I would appreciate, but don't necessarily expect, an answer to this question. Happy New Year everyone! amerigena

    Bodhi Linux

Graphical configuration system, to me, sounds something like Swami in Bodhi or YAST in SuSE. My $.02.

    Bodhi 4.4.0 Testing ISO Images

Thank you Charles. I should have specified that I was installing the appack ISO. Interesting. amerigena

    Bodhi 4.4.0 Testing ISO Images

Installation finished. Some observations : 1). Installation took eleven minutes from beginning of Live session until restart prompt. 2). Running an apt update && apt upgrade -y showed that packages.bodhilinux.com was present as a repository, as expected. Pulseaudio was updated during the apt transaction. I have not had the opportunity to actually test audio playback yet. 3). Font rendering seems much better. This may seem like a minor consideration, but the improvement (to me) seems considerable. 4). Items in the bottom panel? shelf? iBar? scale better when its size is reduced and look good. 5). After the Live session finished, the system rebooted, Moksha launched and index.html from /usr/share/bodhi/quickstart/quickstartEN opened in Geany instead of Midori or Chromium. I believe that this is not the expected behavior. This looks like a very good release. I look forward to testing it further. Thanks again Jeff. amerigena

    Bodhi 4.4.0 Testing ISO Images

Live session on a 4 GB RAM Core 2 Quad Vostro 410 is very fast and responsive. Everything Menu and all applications that I've launched are working as expected. I am going to perform an install on an 8 GB RAM Core I5 Inspiron 620 in a few minutes. I will be very sure to apt update && check sources.list after installation. Thank you. amerigena
  14. I was working with my new 4.3.1 linstall, let it idle for a few hours, when I came back to it, the system was crawling and virtually useless. Running top, several instances (3) of a process menu_cached. I'm not familiar with the process, so I output top to a text file and did a sudo killall menu-cached. This brought the system back-to-useable. Lines detailing the process are below: [7m PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND (B[m[39;49m[K (B[m[1m21129 rg 23 3 30908 260 0 R 44.4 0.0 22:51.02 menu-cached (B[m[39;49m[K (B[m[1m21142 rg 23 3 30908 260 0 R 44.4 0.0 22:50.38 menu-cached (B[m[39;49m[K (B[m[1m21085 rg 23 3 30880 252 0 R 38.9 0.0 22:51.22 menu-cached (B[m[39;49m[K (B[m[1m23412 rg 39 19 203188 66868 10184 R 38.9 2.0 0:18.10 efreet_ico+ (B[m[39;49m[K Best I could do. 15. This is something I've noticed when moving from 3 to 4 tasks in the Bodhi shelf - links to screenshots below. First link is to screenshot with 3 tasks open; second is to screenshot with 4 open. I don't know if this is a bug or a Bodhi design feature, but I found it odd : http://imgur.com/WY7u4JQ http://imgur.com/NxoSaFo Thanks. amerigena
