Charles, I went to ~/.elementary, opened it to find config, opened that to find standard, opened that to find nothing at all. I then removed it to trash only to find it (config) was still in ~/.elementary. Swami still does not work. R.

Swami Control Crashes with EFL 1.19.1

Charles, here is what I get when I type swami in terminology robertbodhi@robertbodhi-U43F:~$ swami Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/swami", line 177, in <module> app = MainWin(launchArg) File "/usr/bin/swami", line 46, in __init__ self.icon_object_set(icon.object_get()) File "efl/elementary/image.pxi", line 469, in efl.elementary.__init__.Image.object_get (efl/elementary/__init__.c:174473) File "efl/eo/efl.eo.pyx", line 137, in efl.eo.object_from_instance (efl/eo/efl.eo.c:2170) ValueError: Eo object at 0x40000002662348f1 of type Edje.Object does not have a mapping! 6. Both of my computers are fully up to date with Bodhi 4.2.0. Swami-control is installed but when I attempt to open it I get Application execution error - swami stopped running unexpectedly. What step am I missing here? I have been using Bodhi on my two older computers (32bit Panasonic cf-29 and 64bit Asus U43F) with great results for the past 5 months, the work you all have done is amazing, thanks, Robert.

    Unwanted desktop icons

Thank you ,Charles. I removed all my shelves and ibars and started again and after several unexpected glitches due to empty shelves not being actually deleted it is now working properly with a unique shelf with the 3 files I wanted happily sitting in the lower corner of the screen. My apologies for being so dense on this issue, still finding my way around Bodhi (using it on 2 computers now). Cheers, Robert

    Unwanted desktop icons

I want to add a new source, in this case called Drawings, which is a working application on my regular ibar list. I select add new source in the menu and add Drawings in the box which after hitting apply appears in the source list. I highlight this and click apply and return to my 2nd screen where it does not appear on the shelf. I thou ght removing it from my regular ibar might make a difference but that didnt work. Thanks, R.

    Unwanted desktop icons

Thanks for that.Yet another sub menu I hadnt discovered. My question now is how to add the items I want, in this case specific files in pcmanfm. In the box requesting the name of the new source I have tried a number of things but no success yet. If I put pcmanfm in it adds all my regular ibar contents. I have tried adding the path to the file but that doesnt even make it to the menu. I have 3 specific files in my regular ibar list which show up when I go to contents from this new menu but they will not appear when I click add and apply. Cheers, R.

    Unwanted desktop icons

I have added a shelf to my second desktop, set to only show there which works. Then I add an ibar to that shelf as I want access to 3 folders in pcmanfm that have been added to the ibar application list on that desktop. When I do that 3 File icons appear at the top of the 2nd desktop (as well as in the shelf which is at the bottom) which is ok except those 3 File icons now appear on the top of each of my 5 desktops. I suspect I am trying to do something that isnt possible as it seems anything in an active ibar appears on all desktops with an ibar on its shelf and that the 3 File icons that now appear on each desktop are just duplicate desktop ibars. Thanks R.

    Unwanted desktop icons

I have set up 5 different desktops, each for a specific purpose. I have created a shelf specific to the 2nd desktop which includes an ibar with links to 3 seperate files in pcmanfm. This all works well. However three file icons for those files now show up at the top of each desktop. If they just showed up on the top of the 2nd desktop that would be fine. If I remove them they vanish from the shelf where I put them. Any ideas? Great improvements with 4.1.0, Thanks, Robert.
  12. Stefan; Thanks again for your interest. After much effort I discovered that the network issue is not a Bodhi problem. My network connections with my other computers which always worked effortlessly no longer function. So I have installed Dutco which seems to work quickly and well with all of my machines for file sharing. Robert
  13. Hi Stefan; Thanks for your quick response to my query. I ran the command as you suggested and the latest version of gvfs-backends is already installed. The only thing I am not sure of was the last line in the output which said that .....gvfs-backends is set to be manually installed. Robert.
  14. I seem to be unable to connect to my home network for filesharing. I open pcmanfm and click on network and 2 items appear, printer and windows network. The printer connection is established and works perfectly. When I click on windows network it goes to smb:/// with 2 error messages ....no such file or directory and.....the specified location is not mounted. I installed bodhi-filesharing and have checked via terminology that it is installed but cannot find it anywhere. It doesnt appear in the launcher when I type in bodhi and I cant find it anywhere in the file system. I am sure there is something quite simple that I am missing, any help would be greatly appreciated. Robert.

Create icon for a specific file in the ibar

Charles, thank you for the very clear guide to adding icons to open files using the ibar. It worked well with my file 'Bodhi manual' but it wouldnt work for 'Drawings for Franklin' or 'Franklin photos'. After numerous attempts involving file name changes I found it would work with 'Drawings' and 'Frankphotos'. Part of the problem seems to be that I do not have a file called/usr/local/share/applications or a file called /usr/local/share/icons according to the error messages I received when trying to open a newly created file from the ibar. The only place I can find a file called applications is either /home.e/e/applications/bar/default/.order where it lists the applications in a text file in the ibar or menu://applications/ where the files I have added to the ibar are held in a folder labelled 'other'. None of this is a big deal as I have it working for what I needed, just trying to understand what is actually happening when things dont work. A lot of thought, fine intelligence, and care have gone into creating Bodhi 4.0 and it has brought astonishing new life to my 12 year old Toughbook. So again many thanks for your help, Robert.
