  1. Installation hangs at 'Creating User'

Frustration. Thanks to the last two answers, I started nosing around on other forums, and discovered that there is a known bug with encrypting your home folder while installing Ubuntu, et al. So all worked fine after I gave up trying to encrypt this during installing. Thanks again for your help.
  2. Installation hangs at 'Creating User'

OK, thanks. I appreciate your work on Bodhi. It's my go-to for all installations except my own (I'm a little too deeply invested in Xmonad to make the switch, although I find E's simple tiling intriguing.).

  4. Installation hangs at 'Creating User'

I started with an MBR setup; only for this last try did I change it to GPT. I'm using Ext4.
  5. Installation hangs at 'Creating User'

Well, just for my satisfaction, after a little more research, I restarted from scratch, using fdisk instead of the installer's partitioning tool. I set things up more to my liking, and tried the installation again. It is still hanging, apparently at the same place. Here is the current partition data: bodhi@bodhi:~$ sudo fdisk /dev/sda Welcome to fdisk (util-linux 2.27.1). Changes will remain in memory only, until you decide to write them. Be careful before using the write command. Good question. There's a bit here that makes me suspicious, but I don't know enough to be sure. I had intended to have a 4G swap partition, sda1 be /, and the rest be /home. I'm not sure why it went straight to an extended partition, since I was only asking for 3 primary partitions. This has been my standard partition schema for a long time; I'm open to improvements. 7. I've been trying to install 4.0.0-apppack-64 to an Asus 2410 All-in-one. The Live-USB loads and performs as expected, but every attempt so far has hung at the 'Creating User' notification. I've tried 2 usb sticks, and the standard Bodhi as well as the apppack version. Here is some basic info; I'll be happy to include an installation log if I know where to look. bodhi@bodhi:~$ lscpu Architecture: x86_64 CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit Byte Order: Little Endian CPU(s): 4 On-line CPU(s) list: 0-3 Thread(s) per core: 2 Core(s) per socket: 2 Socket(s): 1 NUMA node(s): 1 Vendor ID: GenuineIntel CPU family: 6 Model: 42 Model name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz Stepping: 7 CPU MHz: 1972.394 CPU max MHz: 3300.0000 CPU min MHz: 1600.0000 BogoMIPS: 6585.15 Virtualization: VT-x L1d cache: 32K L1i cache: 32K L2 cache: 256K L3 cache: 3072K NUMA node0 CPU(s): 0-3 Flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx rdtscp lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good nopl xtopology nonstop_tsc aperfmperf eagerfpu pni pclmulqdq dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr pdcm pcid sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt tsc_deadline_timer xsave avx lahf_lm epb tpr_shadow vnmi flexpriority ept vpid xsaveopt dtherm arat pln pts bodhi@bodhi:~$ bodhi@bodhi:~$ free -h total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 3.8G 826M 156M 739M 2.8G 1.9G Swap: 3.9G 19M 3.9G bodhi@bodhi:~$ uname -a Linux bodhi 4.4.0-36-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 11 18:01:55 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Thanks much in advance.
