Quick Fix Compilation

Recommended Posts

Why not start a second guide for 2.0, and keep this one for 1.4, as some people will still use 1.4 when 2.0 is released.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing too. I just didn't bother putting it here. lol i always forget.

Reached 1000+ views! Hope this had been of some help ;) Then again, on a side-note, most of those views may have come from me reviewing the post every two weeks. :-?

Hey Spainich,

Great work on this! I know you haven't been getting a whole lot of feedback recently, but I and many others certainly appreciate the work you're putting into this. Kudos!

cheers

Thanks. :D Feedback's a nice boost, but really, I'm just happy I could help. :) (It's also good for me. I can make a record of how I ended up fixing some things. Might do me some good in the long run :D)

With the release of Bodhi 2.0, I'll be holding off on revising these (for now, anyway). With the coming of finals and my thesis gone stagnant, it might take me the whole year. You're all free to post your tips and tricks. I'll include them whenever I can. :D

Added notes for those tested to work in Bodhi 2.0

I'll be testing others and add more including faster boot-ups, managing virtualbox sessions, rebooting during system hangs and other alternative programs, but this might take a while. Foreseen date of release for new compilation is estimated to be in April.

I don't know if this has been reported, but adding a gadget like deskshow to the engage bar with a gadcon in bodhi 1.4 can cause the bar to stop hiding itself when a window touches it. To fix this, move the gadcon to the left side of the bar. That can be done by right-clicking on the engage bar, clicking 'configure bar', clicking the 'Bar Items' tab, selecting 'gadcon' and clicking the up button until it hits the top of the list.

This is just a random sort of bug I ran into and found a fix for while configuring my system, and I've heard of it being replicated on other systems through IRC, but I'm not sure if it is a problem in the 2.x distro or not.

A quick note. I have upgraded to 2.xx so I won't be posting much on 1.4 from now on. I'll be adding those that are in the comments but they will no longer be personally replicated and tested. I'm planning to compile another set of quick fixes for version 2.xx, but that's scheduled on April so don't expect me to be posting it anytime soon yet.

currently experimenting on web apps. Sorry; I can't verify any of the new fixes since I've discarded my bodhi over peppermint. I'm planning to re-install bodhi sometime in september. In the mean time, I'll be doing some experimenting on web apps, applicable to both bodhi and peppermint.

as for Squee's question, yes, I think so.

Am playing with a new M'Board and can get almost no distros to load from live CDs.

If anyone else is having a problem with the VIA Chrome9 video chip, one way to get the Bodhi live CD to display a desktop is to add

[space]vga=771
at the end of a boot option. I used the normal boot option and added this. Black screens had been driving me mad for a few hours.

MOBO Via VE-900 Mini-ITX - with a replacement quiet fan, this is a very low powered quiet Mobo.
